Buying at Historical & Collectable

Catalogues: Printed Illustrated catalogues and digital listings on the internet are published at least three weeks prior to the auction. See: www.historicalandcollectable.com where every lot is illustrated and many with additional images.

Imperfections: The condition of pieces (other than lots of multiple pieces) is mentioned in the catalogue and is intended as a guide to assist potential Purchasers. Use of the word good in a lot description implies the item is in good original condition. It remains the responsibility of the Bidders to satisfy themselves as to the condition of each piece in any lot.

Absentee Bidding: 

  • Commission bids may be submitted by email to the Auctioneer prior to the auction who will execute such bids without obligation.
  • Telephone bidding may be undertaken at the sole discretion of the auctioneer.
  • Live internet bidding via www.the-saleroom.com (no additional fees).

Successful absentee bidders will be notified of any purchase by telephone or email. 

Buyers Premium: Payable on the hammer price of each lot purchased at a rate of 30.00% (including VAT).

Value Added Tax: Very occasionally a lot might additionally attract VAT on the hammer price at either 20.00% (if it is being sold by a person registered for VAT) or 5.00% (if it has been imported from outside the EU). In such case this will be noted in the catalogue.

Artist Resale Right: Payable in addition to the hammer price as noted in the auction catalogue.

Payment: Accounts may be settled in Sterling cash (maximum equivalent of 10,000 Euros); Sterling cheque (only clients known to Historical & Collectable); or bank transfer to Lloyds Bank, sort code: 30-99-09 account number: 07158347 BIC: LOYDGB21187 IBAN:  GB07 LOYD 3099 0907 1583 47 in the name of Historical & Collectable (payments received from overseas incur a surcharge of £7.00) Debit and Credit cards are NOT accepted.

Collection and Shipping: The Auctioneer may pack and send small consignments by Royal Mail Special Delivery. Whilst every effort will be made to ensure lots are properly packed no responsibility can be accepted by the Auctioneer or his agents for the loss or damage sustained in transit by Royal Mail with whom insurance cover will be arranged.

As a guide, packages weighing no more than two kilos will cost between £18 and £28 inland or £38 to £58 for the rest of the world. For larger and or bulky purchases please contact the auctioneers, preferably prior to the auction, for guidance on the costs of shipment, collection or delivery of purchases. Items may be collected from London by prior appointment.

Registration: With acceptable identification consistent with the money laundering legislation.

Auction Duration: Lots will be sold in numerical order (unless otherwise stated) at a likely rate of between 80 and 130 lots per hour.
